The Tradouw Guest House, one of Barrydale's oldest historical buildings dating back to the late 1800's is a little gem conveniently located just off the now famous, scenic Route 62 in the Little Karoo. Partners Leon and Denis have been the owners of Tradouw Guesthouse, one of the first bed and breakfast's in Barrydale, since 1997. They offer travellers accommodation in true country style in their interesting home situated in a quiet part of the main street of the village.
Guests can look forward to a relaxing, quiet, and peaceful stay in a rural country setting away from the busy town centre, but within walking distance to various restaurants and coffee shops.
Leon and Denis have created a nostalgic haven to stay in on your journey between Cape Town en route to Oudsthoon, Prince Albert, Knysna and further along the 'Garden Route' towards the Addo Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape and into the Great Karoo. The house offers a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere with beautiful gardens and awesome views over Barrydale and the Langeberg Mountains. The decor is eclectic yet colourful and interesting with fine pieces of old oregon and yellowood furniture. There are six standard comfortable bedrooms, two with queen size beds set in the large private gardens at the back of the house away from the street, and four bedrooms, two double beds and two twin bedded opening onto a vine covered courtyard with water feature, all available for overnight stops, weekend stays or longer breaks.
There is a lounge with open fire place and a quaint private pub exclusively for the guests called "McCavities" with record player, piano, TV and various board games to keep one entertained inside, outside under the vines, or on our cool front patio watching Barrydale life pass by. Enjoy a game of patanque in our extended gardens opposite the house or relax in our Native American Red Indian Medicine Wheel Gardens.
There is no swimming pool at the Guesthouse, however guests can take a drive into the Tradouws Pass and swim in natural rock pools or visit Warmwaterberg Hot Springs which is about 25km from Barrydale on The Route 62.
